Vitamin E Acetate
Free Vitamin E oxidises in storage before it ever reaches a capsule. Esterifying it to the acetate solves that: a shelf-stable, oxidation-resistant liquid or powder that still delivers active Vitamin E once the ester is cleaved in the body.
Chelora Chemicals supplies USP/EP/FCC-grade Vitamin E acetate — in liquid, powder and beadlet forms — to supplement, animal-feed and cosmetic-ingredient manufacturers worldwide, with a batch COA on every consignment.

What Vitamin E Acetate is used for
DL-alpha-Tocopheryl acetate is a colourless to pale yellow, viscous oil at room temperature (also supplied as a powder or beadlet for solid-dose use) — the acetate ester of synthetic Vitamin E. Free tocopherol is a strong antioxidant, but that same reactivity means it oxidises on exposure to air, light and heat during processing and storage. Esterification to the acetate removes that reactive hydroxyl group, giving a shelf-stable raw material that is cleaved back to active tocopherol by esterases once absorbed in the body.
Its principal markets are dietary supplements and multivitamin formulations, animal feed and premix manufacture, and cosmetic skin-care and hair-care formulation, where it serves as both a stable Vitamin E source and a skin-conditioning ingredient.
DL- versus D- (natural) tocopheryl acetate
- DL-alpha-tocopheryl acetate (this product) the synthetic, racemic form — the most widely traded commercial Vitamin E raw material on cost grounds.
- D-alpha-tocopheryl acetate the natural-source form, often commanding a premium for "natural Vitamin E" label claims; available on request as a separate specification.
- Both are acetate esters; the difference is stereochemistry and sourcing claim, not the acetate chemistry itself.
See our wider nutraceutical range for the other vitamin intermediates we supply, including niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and folic acid (Vitamin B9).
Appearance and handling character
The liquid form is a viscous, oil-soluble liquid, essentially insoluble in water, that is considerably more oxidation-resistant than free tocopherol but still benefits from cool, dark storage and a nitrogen headspace in bulk packaging. Powder and beadlet forms are diluted, free-flowing solids suited to tableting and dry-blend use.

How we supply Vitamin E Acetate
Chelora Chemicals is a supplier and sourcing partner, not a manufacturer. On a vitamin traded in several physical forms and two stereochemical variants, that means we match your order to the exact form your production line actually runs, not whatever a single plant happens to have.
We place your order with whichever qualified producer best matches your target form (liquid, powder, beadlet), your price point and your delivery window.
We keep a second qualified source on this line, because Vitamin E acetate is one of the highest-volume vitamin raw materials traded globally, and supply continuity matters at that scale.
- Physical form confirmed before we quote. Liquid, powder or beadlet each suit different production lines, and we match before pricing.
- DL- versus D- form confirmed. Synthetic and natural-source Vitamin E command different prices and label claims — we confirm which you need.
- Nitrogen-headspace packing for liquid form. A real stability measure on bulk liquid, not packaging detail.
- Assay and acid value reported on every COA. Our check on oxidative condition, not just the headline potency number.
- Batch traceability to the producing plant. Full chain of custody documentation on request.
- Export machinery handled in-house. Classification, labelling, freight booking and customs paperwork are ours to manage.
Packed the way your plant receives it
Liquid and solid forms need different packing logic entirely. Tell us your preferred form and production-line format and we will quote to it.

Contracted call-off supply
We hold contracted tonnage and release it against your production calendar, rather than asking you to warehouse it.
A vitamin ingredient with no significant GHS hazard classification
Vitamin E acetate carries no significant GHS hazard classification for its food, feed and cosmetic uses and is not regulated as a dangerous good. The guidance below is good-manufacturing-practice orientation — your facility's own food/pharma handling procedures and the SDS supplied with your consignment remain the governing documents.
Hazard classification
Vitamin E acetate is not classified as hazardous under GHS/CLP for its intended food, feed and cosmetic uses, and is not regulated as a dangerous good for any mode of transport. The main handling point is maintaining oxidative and physical quality — a lesser concern than for the free-tocopherol form, but not zero.
General handling notes
Treat it with the same care you would apply to any bulk oil-based or vitamin powder ingredient.
- Minimise open-air exposure of the liquid. While more oxidation-resistant than free tocopherol, the ester still benefits from limited air contact in bulk handling.
- Standard food/pharma PPE. Gloves during liquid transfer, plus a dust mask for the powder/beadlet form.
- Clean up oil spills with absorbent material. No special chemical treatment is required — treat it as any other food-grade oil spill.
- No special fire precautions beyond standard combustible-liquid practice. Check the SDS for the specific flash point of your batch form.
Storage
- Cool, dry, dark warehouse storage. Reduces the slow residual oxidation that can still occur over long storage periods.
- Keep containers tightly closed between uses. Nitrogen-blanket the headspace on opened bulk liquid drums where practical.
- Avoid storage near strong oxidising agents. Standard good warehouse-segregation practice.
- Rotate stock on a first-in-first-out basis. Straightforward inventory practice for any vitamin raw material with a defined shelf life.
Handling & PPE
- Standard GMP handling. Treat it as you would any bulk oil-based vitamin ingredient in a food, feed, pharma or cosmetic facility.
- Gloves during liquid transfer. Reasonable good practice to avoid oily residue rather than a hazard-driven requirement.
- Dust mask for powder/beadlet handling. Standard good practice for any fine solid ingredient.
- Food/cosmetic-contact-grade equipment where relevant. Standard requirement depending on your end use.
Transport
Vitamin E acetate is not regulated as a dangerous good for air, sea or road transport under IATA, IMDG or ADR/RID rules in its commercial forms. It ships as ordinary general cargo — ask us for a freight quote alongside your product pricing.
What travels with every consignment
On a vitamin that enters supplements, feed and cosmetic products in several physical forms, the paper trail is as important as the assay.

Batch-specific assay, acid value, refractive index or beadlet potency, heavy metals and microbiological results against your chosen monograph.
Safety Data Sheet
Full-section SDS covering composition, handling, storage and disposal, in the language your destination requires.
Monograph compliance statement
Written confirmation of compliance with the USP, EP or FCC monograph you have specified for your filing.
Isomer / source declaration
Written confirmation of DL- (synthetic) or D- (natural-source) form, supporting your own label and claims review.
Certificate of Origin
Chamber-attested where required, plus preferential-origin forms where a trade agreement gives your import duty relief.
Retained & pre-shipment samples
Pre-shipment samples carry the same COA as the commercial lot, so what your laboratory qualifies is exactly what arrives.
Why esterification is the whole point
The chemistry of this molecule is really the chemistry of protecting a reactive antioxidant from itself. The outline below is general background, not a process disclosure.
Build or isolate tocopherol
Synthetic DL-alpha-tocopherol is built from trimethylhydroquinone and isophytol, or natural tocopherol is isolated from vegetable oil sources.
Esterify the hydroxyl group
The reactive phenolic hydroxyl on the tocopherol ring is reacted with acetic anhydride to form the acetate ester.
Purify to specification
The ester is purified and adjusted to the target physical form — liquid, powder or beadlet — under controlled conditions.
QC release
The batch is tested against the specified monograph for assay, acid value and physical properties before release.
Why the ester, not the free vitamin
The hydroxyl group that makes tocopherol such an effective antioxidant in the body is exactly what makes it unstable as a stored raw material:
- Free tocopherol self-oxidises on exposure to air, light and heat, degrading potency during processing and storage.
- The acetate ester blocks that reactive site, giving a shelf-stable commercial raw material.
- Esterases cleave the ester back to active tocopherol after absorption, so the body receives the same biologically active vitamin.
- Beadlet and powder forms exist purely for format — diluting the liquid onto a solid carrier for tableting, not changing the underlying chemistry.
That stability trade-off is also why documentation matters here — confirming assay and acid value on the COA tells you the ester is intact and the batch has not partially hydrolysed in transit.

What actually moves the price of this product
Knowing what drives the quote helps you time a purchase and read whether an offer is realistic.
Isophytol & trimethylhydroquinone feedstock
Synthetic production depends on these specialty petrochemical intermediates, so their cost cycles filter through over a quarter.
- We flag feedstock-driven moves in the quote
- Longer contracts smooth short-term swings
- Ask about indexed pricing on large volumes
Synthetic (DL-) versus natural-source (D-)
Natural-source material commands a meaningful premium over synthetic DL- for the same nominal potency, driven by "natural" label claims.
- Confirm which claim your label actually needs
- We quote both and let you compare
- Over-specification is the commonest cost leak
Physical form
Beadlet and powder forms carry a formulation and dilution cost over the base liquid, reflecting the extra processing step.
- Specify only the form your line actually needs
- Liquid is the lowest-cost base form
- We quote across all three forms for comparison
Freight and packing format
Non-dangerous-goods status keeps freight simple, though liquid drums cost more per kilo to move than bulk powder at scale.
- Compare on landed cost, not ex-works
- Ask about form-specific freight economics
- We quote FOB, CIF, CFR or DDP as you prefer
Source geography
Global production is concentrated among a handful of large-scale vitamin manufacturers, so logistics lead time can matter as much as unit price.
- We hold a second qualified source on this line
- Ask which sourcing region best fits your lane
- Regional stock can shorten lead time materially
Shelf life and inventory
A 24-month shelf life gives reasonable flexibility to buy ahead of a forecast price move, provided cool, dark storage is maintained.
- Buy to schedule rather than to price alone
- We hold inventory and release on call-off
- Ask about scheduled despatch
| If your end use is… | Specify |

Support that goes beyond shipping the drum
What our technical desk will do
- Confirm physical form before anything else. Liquid, powder or beadlet drive completely different packing, freight and shelf-life profiles.
- Confirm DL- versus D- requirement. Driven by your label claim, not just by cost, and we will say plainly which applies.
- Recommend packing for your climate and transit. Nitrogen-headspace liquid packing is worth the cost on some routes and unnecessary on others.
- Be straight about oxidative condition. Acid value tells a real story about batch handling — we will flag it if a batch looks marginal.
Regulatory & compliance notes
- Food and feed additive status varies by country. We check destination rules before quoting, not after you have raised the PO.
- Cosmetic ingredient listings differ between regions. We supply the identity data you need for your cosmetic-ingredient filing (INCI, CAS, EC number).
- Natural-source claims carry their own substantiation requirements. We pass through the producer's sourcing documentation to support your own claims review.
- Pharmacopoeia compliance is batch-specific. We confirm which monograph version a given batch was tested against.
None of the above is legal, nutritional or regulatory advice — your own regulatory affairs team owns the final compliance position for your product. What we commit to is accurate product identity data, an honest statement of specification, and complete documentation to work from.
